Introducing: Mooncall
Mooncall is a reimagined telling of the story of Chang'e and the moon, with an cosmic horror twist and the ever-looming threat of eldritch consumption.
Mooncall spins a new version of the tell-tale story of Chang'e, in the setting of a dystopian trashpunk world. The city and its citizens are held down by its king, the ever-smiling Hou Yi. Above it all, lies the moon, chained down and held captive.
The full story was coined by a simple idea; celestial bodies as ever-present, ever-warring eldritch beings, with humans caught in the middle of their conflict.
Hou Yi successfully defeats the 9 suns like in his original myth, but dies along with them. The combusting remains suns take over his body right before they dissipate; escaping into their human host. Hou Yi’s slaying of the 9 suns was supposed to be the end of the war between cosmic beings, but with the suns living on within his body after their defeat, they puppeteer the Lord Archer to rise up and chain the moon in the sky.
The moon pill is a piece of the moon that shattered during the conflict, and is the only thing keeping the moon from regaining its power and fighting back against Hou Yi.
In the planned finale of the story, no one wins. The tale is one of destruction and endless battle, where it becomes clear that in the face of cosmic power, mortals are nothing but pawns in their eternal games of celestial chess. As morbid as it seems, the story was never meant to have a happy conclusion. Not for for Chang'e, not for her friends, not even for Hou Yi. None of them are immune from the rampant, dispassionate destruction of the entities far beyond their understanding.
And in the end, the story ends just as it begins; two orbiting beings, nipping at each other's heels, while the mortals caught in between begin to drown.
Introducing: Overcast
A concept for a 2D side-scrolling roguelite centered around a group of robots in the face of the fall of humanity. Left to survive against the mutated remains of their masters, the player character seeks out the root cause of the infection.
At it's core, OVERCAST is a story about humanity. About stripping humans of theirs, and imbuing it within the inhuman. All the NPCs you are able to interact with aren't human. All the enemies you must defeat are. And most importantly, the character you play as isn't one that is breathing or living, not one made of flesh and bone but instead one made of metal and wires.
Many other games explore the idea of an inhuman protagonist, but most still hold onto some sort of human input, whether it be from some guide NPC or side characters that follow your journey, there always seems to be some sort of access to "valuable human wisdom" during times of need. OVERCAST seeks to push this notion to the extreme, removing any semblance of the human voice completely.
OVERCAST was probably my favorite project I've worked on within the past few years. Although I, for one, am not the most accustomed to the sharply stylized clean lineart I used for the character work, it was still a fun challenge to branch out of my comfort zone. Same goes for the stylization of Those Who Remain, inspiration taken from high-key photographs and the unique dithering effects that comes from analog television.
The brightly saturated colors of the main trio work to subvert traditional ideas of the quintessential robot design of muted neutral tones, as well as to give a little more life into their metal frames. Similarly, the creatures the player fight are rendered in complete monochrome, the once present warmth of human skin now reduced to pure black and white.
Comic Gallery
I dabble in my fair share of comic making, both for personal and competitive ventures. My work aims to break free from traditional comic formats and structures, to something more free and loose in gesture.
*Starred titles have in-depth analysis on my process work.*
OCT Works
Original character tournaments are large scale collaborative comic projects, where amateur and professional artists alike pair up against each other with their original characters to battle it out, comics-style.
The true challenge of OCTs come in the storytelling; to tell the story of your opponent's character as well as your own in the best way possible, to show each and every page with the respect both characters deserve.

Tournament: Nightmareland (2023)
In a tournament based on a twisted version of the Slumberland appearing in famous comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland, my character is the Poet, a faceless resident lazing around in the tournament's surrealist landscapes.

Tournament: Zombie Escape (2023-2024)
An introductory comic to my character, Mary, who finds herself in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. She quickly finds out, however, she's quite good at dying. Not so good at staying dead.
Mary meets Marcus, a meek and cowardly college student that just needs a little push in the right direction.
